Books Read 2016 (#1)

My goal is to read 11 books in 2016. It’s not that hard to accomplish compared to my previous goals (which were to read 20-30 books a year). But, for 2016, I hope I can (1) Finish reading all the tbr books on my bookshelves (2) Read other genre of books/not only focusing on YA series

It’s now March and so far I has finished reading 4 books (reading the fifth books now!). So here’s list of books I’ve read so far.

1. The Little Prince by Antoine De Saint-Exupery

Rating: ★★★★★  (decided to reread this book before watching the movie!)

Quotes:

(a) “All grown-ups were once children… but only few of them remember it.”

(b) “It is the time you have wasted for your rose that makes your rose so important.”

(c) “The most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or touched, they are felt with the heart.”

(d) “But, unfortunately, I cannot see sheep through boxes. Perhaps I am a little like grown-ups.”

(e) “I am who I am and I have the need to be.”

2. Off The Page (Between the Lines #2) by Jodi Picoult and Samantha Van Leer

Rating: ★★★✰✰  (disappointed!)

Quotes:

(a) “Well, you have to find that rare someone for whom you’re not putting on a show. Someone who shines a spotlight in your direction—not because you’re who they need you to be, or who they want you to be…just because you’re you.”

(b) “A wish is just words. Belief is the catalyst. It’s what sets that wish into motion.”

(c) “Hope is what makes you look outside the window to see if it’s stopped raining. Hope is what makes you believe he’ll text you back. Hope is why you buy your jeans a little tight… Hope is why you get out of bed in the morning, and why you dream at night. Hope is what makes us believe that things can only get better. Hope is what keeps us going.”

(d) “But even if every house looked identical-if all the furnishings were the same- it still wouldn’t feel like yours. That’s because home isn’t where you are. It’s who you’re with.”

(e) “Love isn’t what you expect it to be. You imagine being drunk on happiness, but the truth is, you worry all the time. Is she ill? Hurt? Might she meet someone else? There’s a moment when you realize you’ve gotten everything you wished for. And right on its heels is the understanding that this means you have so much more to lose.”

3. First Phone Call from Heaven By Mitch Albom

Rating: ★★★★✰ (my first novel by Mitch Albom! wanted to read his works for a while)

Quotes:

(a) “I think people believe what they want to believe.”

(b) “Bad news has no limit. We often feel it should, like a rain that can’t possibly get any heavier. But a storm can always worsen, and the burdens of life can, too.”

(c) “Always light… but not how you think” “Heaven… is the same feeling… No fear. No dark. When you know you’re loved… That’s the light.”

(d) “The end is not the end.”

(e) “Desire sets our compass, but real life steers our course.”

(f) “Fear is how you lose your life…a little bit at a time…What we give to fear, we take away from…faith.”

(g) “Sometimes, love brings you together even as life keeps you apart.”

4.  All The Bright Places by Jennifer Niven

Rating: ★★★✰✰ (a bit disappointed! not as good as what everyone on Goodreads recommended)

Quotes:

(a) “I think it’s early. Early in our lives. Early in the night. Early in the new year. If you’re counting, you’ll notice the earlys outnumber the lates.”

(b) “When you consider things like the stars, our affairs don’t seem to matter very much, do they?”

(c) “You need shoving not pushing. You need to jump back on that camel. Otherwise you’re going to stay up in the ledge you’ve made for yourself.”

(d) “You’re not alone” “Actually I am, which is part of the problem; we are all alone, trapped in these bodies and our own minds, and whatever company we have in this life is only fleeting and superficial”

(e) “The thing I realize is, that it’s not what you take, it’s what you leave.”

Currently reading To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han. Hmm, it’s better than what I expected!

The trailer for Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children is finally online. Miss P series is always my top fav trilogy! I haven’t start reading Library of Souls. Since the movie is coming out soon, I decide to reread Miss P and Hollow City (before I start to read Library of Souls)

You’re so cool! I do not believe I’ve truly read through a single thing
like this before. So wonderful to find somebody with
some genuine thoughts on this topic. Really.. thank you for starting this up.
This website is something that’s needed on the
web, someone with a little originality!
